The sword remains that are the basis for this re-creation of a two handed claymore are preserved in the British Museum in London. The powerful langet and the curved crossguard are characteristic of a Scottish two handed sword. They are both made of brass, which was used in the old days to prevent rusting. The pear-shaped pommel is also brass.

The long, double-edged, parallel blade is extremely heavy, which in turn favors unusually powerful cuts. This sword has two narrow and two broad fullers of equal length, which is unusual for a type XIIIa sword. In view of the sheer size and weight of this Highland claymore, the fullers are almost indispensable for good manageability. The attractive grip is made of lathe-turned hardwood and provides enough room for two hands – luckily, because you need both of them to wield this mighty sword. Our Highland claymore comes with a matching scabbard.
